Acceptance of your vehicle:
Vehicles must arrive to Signwrite Studios in a clean condition, any vehicle that arrives dirty will be subject to a jet washing cleaning charge of £45.00 +vat which will be required prior to cleaning. This may also push your vehicle over schedule.
Our installation time includes a full surface preparation chemical clean prior to the vinyl being applied. We have to ensure that tar grease build up, wax & silicone are removed using special surface cleaners otherwise the wrap/graphics will fail.
Our preparation does not include the repair of any dents, scratches or rust.
Location of Install:
Signwrite Studios prefer to use our own premises for installation. If the client elects to have installation performed at their location, we will not be held liable for any issues related to improper install conditions such as temperature or dust.
If we are at the clients nominated location, suitable conditions must exist. Vehicles need to be indoors, in a clean, dust free, temperature controlled environment with a power supply and good quality lighting. A minimum working area of 4 feet around the entire vehicle. If, in the opinion of the senior installer on site, conditions are not suitable for a high quality install of the wrap, the vehicle will be required to be booked in at our premises. A day rate charge will be added to the invoice for a wasted day.
Defective Paintwork:
Vehicle wrapping films are designed to be installed onto original factory paintwork, which is a requirement for correct adhesion.
Any damaged, flaking or weak accident repair work will not allow the film to bond correctly. The wrap will only ever be as strong as the surface being wrapped. Non-painted panels including primer and plastics will not have any warranties applied. If your vehicle has had any special surface treatments we need to be informed of these. Any possible micro nano coatings present on the surfaces of your vehicle will cause failure which we will not be liable for if you do not inform us prior to the start of the wrap.
If you allow us to apply vinyl over your non-original factory paintwork, or paintwork that is out of warranty we will not be liable for any damage that may occur to your underlying paint upon removal or repositioning of the vinyl.
Trim Removal:
We may need to de-trim your vehicle. We are able to de-trim most vehicles, however, we are not bodyshop approved. If your vehicle is of high value we strongly suggest you appoint an approved manufacturer bodyshop technician to remove your handles, mirrors, light clusters.
Many modern vehicles are controlled by computers and for this reason you may incurr charges from the dealership/manufacturer.
If you allow us to de-trim your vehicle we will not be liable for any errors or repairs, mechanical, electrical or parts exchanges.
Limitations of the Wrap:
A wrap is NOT paint. There may be extreme curves, deep channels & plastic trims on the vehicle that the vinyl will not be able to conform to. In some small areas you will see evidence of the original colour of the vehicle. These may be small areas such as hinges on the back of vans.
A vehicle wrap is made by applying up to 1500mm wide panels of vinyl. Where there are seams, they will be approx 10mm. On a complex design with many matching points we cannot guarantee that the graphics will allign perfectly. A 5-10% margin is considered acceptable on vehicle wraps with designs. This is because design proofs are created on at 2D computer screens. In cases of curves, handles, deep grooves, bumpers, trims etc, on the spot adjustments may be made by the installer to ensure maximum allignment & readability of any text.
In many cases there are slight dierences between the at proof on the screen and the 3D curved printed vehicle wrap. This can be up to several inches. This is normal so the wrap needs to be designed with this in mind. Vehicles are not at exactly right angle curves, they maintain lines that are not 100% parallel to the ground. Due to this fact the graphics that are designed in 2D will not be the exact same angle of the vehicle lines once it has been installed onto the vehicles 3D surface.
It is not reasonable to expect printed wrap to cover & look exactly like paint, or in all the same places look exactly as the on screen design colours. A representative of your company must choose the correct colours from samples/swatches.
A piece of vinyl has limits & can only stretch so much before it changes colour. In some cases a relief cut may have to be made into the vinyl that may show some of the vehicles original colour. At times we will need to place lower tension inlays and joins into your wrap which will be almost invisible. It is the only option.
We do this out of professionalism for the best durability of our workmanship and so that your wrap has its full lifespan. Over stretching of the vinyl is the number one cause of failure, this is due to diluted adhesive coverage. If we wrap extreme curved surfaces such as mirrors & bumpers they may reveal the original vehicle colour at the tight edges of the wrap. It has more to do with the vinyl limitations and not install quality.
We reserve the right to make expert decisions on any areas we deem an issue. We cannot warranty those areas with extreme curves. It is the sole risk of the client if they require wraps on the mirrors or other very tight curves. We will make you aware of these areas before we begin the design/wrap.
Wraps are self-adhesive vinyl that will only adhere to its full potential to factory paint & glass. Poor surface paint or clear coats will not allow the vinyl adhesive to stick properly and it may fail ‘pop out’. It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to bring in a vehicle that is ready to be wrapped. Any work that has been done on the vehicle i.e: re-spray, accident repair must be made clear to us prior to the booking.
If you require us to wrap over existing vinyl stripes or lettering you must be aware the wrap film is so thin that there will be evidence that there is old vinyl underneath. Signwrite Studios will not be held responsible for any damage, void of vehicle warranty or anything caused through the application of the vinyl products.
Signwrite Studios will not be liable if during the installation of a wrap the clear coat of the vehicle begins to peel off. Original factory painted vehicles that are still within the paint warranty should not have any problems with the clear coat peeling off.
The application process can take approx 3-7 working days (excluding weekends) for a full wrap depending on the complexity of the wrap and approx 1-3 working days for a partial wrap. It is not a good idea to rush the install process as many things can go wrong. We reserve the right to take additional days that may arise during the install with minimal notice. If we suggest keeping the vehicle longer due to issues & it is declined, we will not be liable for any failures in the wrap.
Warranties:
Vehicle Wrapping: 12 month warranty on original OEM paintwork that is still under the manufacturer paint warranty and does not show any signs of damage, repair or age.
Vehicle wrap films are designed to installed to protect factory paint, which is a requirement for correct adhesion. The wrap will only ever be as strong as the surface being applied to. Non-painted panels including primer and plastics will not have any warranties applied.
Signwrite Studios does not warranty any vehicles over three years old or when installing material that we do not supply ourselves.
Wrap/Graphic Removals:
All removals are quoted separately. Wrap removal can be very time consuming. We charge by the hour for the labour. Signwrite Studios will not be held liable for any paint, clear coat or existing striping damage when we remove wraps/graphics.
We will not be held liable for any damage to paintwork when vinyl is removed and would not advise application on a re-sprayed surface or poor quality/rusted paintwork. We can apply to these surfaces but it will be at the risk of the owner of the vehicle.
Our experience shows that removal of vinyl designed for vehicle wraps will not damage the paintwork. However, it is the duty & responsibilty of the owner of the vehicles to ensure suitability of the existing surface before it is wrapped.
